The Wild Man of the Revolution, Samuel Adams

His friends and family loved him. His enemies called him the Machiavelli of Chaos. Thomas Jefferson credited him with making the revolution possible. It was an unexpected surprise to learn that Samuel Adams was such a DIY punk, like Fugazi or Propagandhi. Now whenever I think about the Boston Tea Party, I imagine the Sons of Liberty singing Fugazi lyrics while tossing crates of tea into the harbor.

The Founders On Virtue

There's a good chance that anyone living in the US has heard the term "virtue signaling". It is usually used to mock someone attempting to hold others to a high standard of conduct. If the founders of the US were alive today, they would be horrified to consider the US has descended into a country that mocks virtue. All of them cared deeply about it, especially George Washington. We all should. Knowing what they said about it will help.

July 4th is NOT the US's Birthday

The US was created in 1774, upgraded in 1777, and upgraded once more in 1787. July 4th was simply a day when some of the colonists told England to get lost.
